How to Control the Full-color LED Display Quality?

LED components is the most important parts of full color LED display. Because of that, improving the LED components quality is the key to make a good full color LED display. There are five important indicators to evaluate the components quality:

1) Failure rate
As the full color LED display comprises hundreds of pixels which are composed by thousands of red, green and blue LED lamps, the failure of any color LED can affect the whole screen visual effect. Generally speaking, the failure rate of the LED components must be no higher than three out of ten over thousands from assembled to using 72 hours before shipment.

2) Antistatic ability
Because LED is the semiconductor devices, it is very electrostatic sensitive. The LED components become invalid by static electricity easily. So the antistatic ability of the LED components is the important factor. Generally speaking, the failure voltage of electrostatic model test of LED should be no less than 2000 V.

3) Attenuation characteristics
The brightness of red, green, and blue LED will go down with time passed by. The quality of the LED chips, the auxiliary materials and the technological level of the encapsulation determine the decay rate of the LED. Generally speaking, after 1000 hours light up test at 20 MA, the attenuation of red LED should be less than 10%, the attenuation of blue, green LED should be less than 15%. The consistency of red, green and blue attenuation of full color LED display affect the white balance of the display.

4) Brightness
The brightness of LED components is an important determinant for the LED display’s brightness. The high brightness of LED can’t save power consumption, but can maintain the stability of the LED. LED has different Angle values, in the same brightness of LED chips, the smaller the angle is, the more brightness the LED is.

5) Consistency
As the full color LED display comprises hundreds of pixels, which is composed by red, green and blue LED, the consistency of the brightness and the wavelength of the each LED determine the consistency of the brightness, white balance of the whole LED sign. Generally speaking, screen factories require device suppliers to provide 5 nm wavelength range and 1:1.3 brightness range for LED sign, which can be made by spectral color separation machine which is used by device suppliers.
